MPBA DBT Program
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive evidence based program created by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D. for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder. Individuals who meet criteria for this disorder typically struggle with other problems such as depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, eating disorders or alcohol and drug problems. MPBA became interested in this treatment modality beginning in 2005 and now runs a comprehensive DBT Program within the agency. A true comprehensive DBT Program requires all of the following modes of treatment:
- Weekly Outpatient Individual Therapy
- Weekly Outpatient Group Skills Training
- 24-hour Phone Coaching with DBT Team Members to generalize skills in environment.
- Weekly Therapist’s Consultation Meeting –Therapy/Support for the therapist
- Ancillary Treatments – psychotropic medications, etc.
MPBA’s DBT program has emerged to become one of the premier programs statewide. At this time, MPBA’s program has a team of 6 clinicians, led by Victoria Bouckaert, M.A., LPC, LBSW, who have completed intensive training in this treatment modality. All 6 clinicians are able to teach skills in either one of the two groups MPBA facilitates and provide phone coaching to consumers in the program. Five of those clinicians conduct individual sessions with our consumers and one clinician links and coordinates consumers with other agencies within the community while teaching generalization of skills learned in treatment. Please call our office for more information on this program.
